I'm very saddened today to learn of the passing of Glenn Nieman. He was a dear friend to me in junior high and high school. Unfortunately, over the years, we had lost touch. At the reunion time, we did connect again, although he was not able to attend.

Glenn is the kind of person you always remember. Kind, caring......he brought love and laughter to our friendship. When I've reflected on those school years so long ago, he was someone I had so wanted to see again. I'm sad to learn that will never happen in this life.

Glenn told me a story once about when he was very small, and it always stayed with me. He was away from his home and had gotten lost. He couldn't find his way. In his childlike faith, he knelt down in some bushes by the road. It was then that he heard the bells of Sacred Heart Church ringing. In that moment, Glenn found his sense of direction and was able to find his way home. What a beautiful story of simple faith. I trust that Glenn has heard the bells and has found his way safely Home.

I'm not sure I ever told you, Glenn, as our relationship was one of friendship.....but I love you. I've never forgotten you, and I never will. Meet you by the church someday?

Rest in sweet peace, my friend Glenn.

I will miss you Glenn.  You were a true friend and I am so happy for all the times we had together in high school and beyond...
